I loved everything about this collection. It was one of the most darkest and suspenseful Batman stories I have ever read. Every moment of this, I thought “This is the REAL Batman”. I never thought that Batman would go further into this dark reality due to creative limitations I constantly see in a big time franchise, but every once in a while, I am genuinely shocked with something like this.
Without giving away spoilers, the story brings back the Joker, like always, but this time it’s different. He’s not like his usual self, he’s in a sort of concluding attitude to finish this whole game off for good. He goes further than ever before and shocks even the Batman himself.
Batman, too, has a few inner demons with just the fact that he can contemplate the mentality Joker lives. Because of this, Batman himself feels sort of like the Joker. This is the usual psychological approach most of these Joker Returns comics become at the milestone, but this one beats the rest.
If you have not read this comic, do it, and gain your own opinion. Sorry I am being vague here, but you will never understand until you sit there, get comfortable, read it and analyze it for yourself.
